Look what 1800 bottlecaps can become…….
With a vision for an outside wall and the help of the community, our local youth and funding via a Murray Arts UNLOCKED grant this seed of an idea began to grow.
I first shared this idea with an enthusiastic Katherine Lanigan, Community development officer and Tallangatta Neighbourhood House Coordinator.
The wall was ear marked and the community bottletop drive was engaged. Thousands of colourful caps were donated and delivered to the centre, bags and bags and bags of them!!
I then applied for a grant via the Murray Arts Unlocked program and was successful. These funds were used to purchase the back board, paints, screw guns, screws and the afternoon teas our local teens needed to keep up energy during our after school sessions.
The subject matter was based on the majestic views of our region, complete with snow capped mountains.
Seven local teenagers enthusiastically engaged with the project, Mondays after school, over a six week period.
Each week bringing the artwork closer and closer to life.
I am so proud of our small but commited creative crew, for this project. It was lovely to spend time with you all working together on this special artwork.
The final piece being a truly "community based collaborative, recycled artwork!"
